Meet Samiya M Ahmed

Hi Y’all! I’m Samiya Ahmed and I want you to come here and find something fun/exciting to do or learn a new dish/topic. My goal is to make you feel like you are hanging out with your bestie. If you feel confident, happy, and smart then that’s what I am going for. Let’s thrive and learn from each other!

I started my TravelwithSamiya Instagram page as a “blog” in college to encourage my friends to travel. As young Muslim women, we are often sheltered but I wanted my friends to see that traveling was possible. They can travel without family and be safe and confident at the same time. It’s humbling to see it evolve into this beautiful community and safe place. I always wanted to start a blog but never really had the opportunity, since I was working and going to school full time.

Life is not always sunshine and rainbows, but you can’t appreciate all the good parts without growing from difficult and low moments. The year 2020 has given me the opportunity to create this website, and I am excited to see where this goes!!

Being the first one in my family to graduate from high school and college in the U.S. without any direction was challenging. Yet, it gave me the tools I needed and the experience to enter the corporate world. I graduated as a business major and landed my first professional job while I was a senior in college. That provided so many chances to meet new people along with incredible work experience. As a Financial Analyst, I like to stay abreast of finances and the market, because you can never plan far enough in advance. I am excited to share financial strategies and tips on money management.

I love sharing bits of my culture and religion, as it has a huge influence on my lifestyle. I’m “Newly married” (it has been almost 3 years but I still like to call it that….Haha hopefully that feeling never changes, InshAllah). My husband Adil is Pakistani but born and raised in Dallas, TX. We dated for a year before getting married, and have been together since February 2017. We don’t always do things the traditional Indian/Pakistani way, but it works for us. I am excited to share some bits with yall!

I am excited to share all the useful tips with y’all on this blog. So expect some travel, modest fashion, Indian/Pakistani food recipes, Zabiha Halal restaurants, fitness/beauty, personal finance tips, and a whole lot of love!

Please don’t hesitate to ask questions, let’s be friends!! Add me on my socials, send an email, DM, or just say WAZAA! Thank you so much for being here and I hope you leave feeling savvy, educated, inspired, and rejuvenated!

XOXO Samiya
